What Is First Aid Training Level 1?

The First Aid Level 1 course is an accredited training programme designed to equip learners with essential life-saving skills to manage common workplace and community emergencies. The course aligns with QCTO occupational skills standards and supports compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.

Learners receive a balance of theory and hands-on practical training, enabling them to respond confidently and effectively until professional medical assistance arrives. Successful participants receive a nationally recognised First Aid Level 1 certificate valid for three years.

Curriculum includes:

  • Scene safety, hazard identification, and use of PPE
  • Primary casualty assessment
  • Adult CPR and AED operation
  • Choking management (conscious and unconscious casualties)
  • Bleeding, wounds, and shock management
  • Burns, fractures, sprains, and soft-tissue injuries
  • Common medical emergencies (fainting, seizures, diabetic emergencies)
  • Basic incident reporting and emergency communication

After completing First Aid Level 1, participants will be able to:

  • Perform basic life-saving interventions with confidence.
  • Conduct primary casualty assessments and activate emergency services.
  • Perform Adult CPR and operate an AED safely.
  • Manage common injuries and medical emergencies.
  • Apply correct infection control and scene safety principles.
  • Comply with workplace emergency and reporting procedures

First Aid Level 1 is suitable for:
